Low Energy House

Energy efficient home, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 193 sqm

Location : Heathcote Valley

This is a rebuild due to the Canterbury earthquakes. The new 4 bedroom home resembles the style of the former home but is packed with the newest technology including a modern ventilation system with heat recovery and a photovoltaic system.

The prefabricated construction to an international standard keeps this new home airtight and very well insulated, making it comfortable in both summer and winter and cost-efficient throughout the year due to the very low power consumption.

Energy efficient features:

  • Timber windows
  • Airtight membrane (Pro Clima)
  • Insulated cavity for services
  • Wool insulation
  • Ventilation + heat recovery (Zehndair)
  • Avoidance of thermal bridges
  • Photovoltaic system
  • Prefabrication of walls, roofs and floors
  • Blower door test

Testimonial

Susanne from Architecta immediately got the feel of our old house (which had to be demolished post-quake) and of our lifestyle, and designed a replacement that fitted us well. It was a pleasure to work with someone who shared our sustainability ideals and had a great depth of knowledge. We were immensely grateful for her professional support and guidance through all the aspects of the build, and would thoroughly recommend Architecta.
